Smashing Pumpkins
Ingredients
45ml Spiced Pumpkin Gin
20ml Ginger & Vanilla Syrup
30ml Roast Pumpkin Juice
15ml Lemon Juice
2 dash Wood Bitters
1 dash Old Fashioned Bitters
Garnish Options
Cinnamon Chard
Method
1. Add all ingredients into a cocktail shaker, and shake until all ingredients are mixed.
2. Strain all ingredients into a martini-type glass, leaving the ice in the shaker.
3. Garnish with a chard of cinnamon.
4. Sip away!
Pumpkin juice:
Get however much pumpkin one wants (you will need more than you think)
Cut off the skin and wrap in foil.
Roast in oven on a low heat until soft through.
To juice the pumpkin, either put in a press juicer, or if you don't have one, line a sieve/colander with cheese cloth (a clean, rinsed chux cloth will also work) cover and then weigh down with something and leave overnight. The heavy weight will slowly press the juice out of the pumpkin.
The leftover pumpkin can be used for cooking. Pumpkin scones for example.
Ginger and vanilla syrup:
Add together a 1:1 ratio of sugar and boiling water.
For 200ml syrup use about 100ml of each.
Add the boiling water to the sugar, stir until sugar is dissolved.
Add about 1 inch piece of peeled, sliced, ginger and 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla bean paste (can add more if you wish)
Let infuse until cool. Strain and keep in the fridge.
