Single Malt Whisky - DEW 001

DEW001 RELEASE DATE: 5 AUGUST 2024
Three twenty litre casks carefully selected, nurtured and matured over two years, representing traditional Scotch Whisky (Apera cask), Sam (Bourbon cask) and Chris (Pinot cask), have been married to create a unique First Release Single Malt Whisky for Drifters End Distilling Company.

Each cask lends its influence across the palate creating a full sensory journey that is reminiscent of all Drifters End spirits.

When first encountering this beautiful spirit on the nose, you will be led by a blast of pepper to heighten the senses, followed by the familiar vanilla flavours of crème caramel, and then wooded undertones of mulch and wine cellars, with a touch of red fruits.

On your first sip, the palate is then blasted with zesty freshness and a smash of spice, which then morphs into fresh tobacco and coffee grounds and a hint of hazel nuts.  The subtleness of red fruits on the nose can be found at the back of the palate.

As you imbibe, you are left with layers of fruit cake and bitter chocolate, subtleness of cigar box and a hint of pepper, leaving a lasting impression of whisky goodness.

Bottled at 50% ABV, this whisky is bold and full-bodied, and will please the senses from first nose to a final lingering aftertaste.

  • Barley

    Barley

Barley is the 'malt' in 'single malt whisky'. We use only the finest Tasmanian barley to ensure only the best products are included in the crafting of our whisky.

  • Yeast

    Yeast

Yeast is used to convert the sugars in the barely into alochol. Different yeasts lend unique characteristics to the brew that is ultimately reflected in the whisky.

  • Copper

    Copper

Copper is important to the taste of our whisky. It strips out the sulpher and returns a smooth new make spirit that is ready to be barrelled. This process is what makes Annie such an importnat part of our team.

  • Oak

    Oak

Oak is what turns the newly produced New Make Spirit into Whisky. We have carefully selected barrels, both Franch Oak and American Oak, from a range of sources to create a series of unique whiskies.

  • Pure Tasmanian Water

    Pure Tasmanian Water

Tasmania has some of the purest water in the world. This is collected and stored onsite, ensuring this Tasmanian purity is included in our whisky.

  • Time

    Time

Whisky maturation cannot be rushed - it just takes time. The art is knowing when the whisky will be ready. We will only bottle our whisky when it's ready, reagardless of how long it's been in the barrel.
